The Responsible Jewellery Council is the standards setting and certification organisation for the jewellery supply chain. With more than 1,000 Member companies and growing rapidly, RJC span the entire jewellery supply chain from mining to retail. The organisation works with businesses of all sizes to instigate step change towards sustainably sourced and produced materials.

The organisation has recently changed CEO & is going through an exciting time of transition, as such, Acre is supporting the search for an Assistant Certification Manager. In this role you will be supporting the certification process, ensuring the code of practice is consistent and trusted, enabling continuous improvement across human rights, environmental standards and traceability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a smooth certification process to RJC members, while maintaining accurate information in the certification database and on the RJC website

  • Reviewing certification recommendation reports submitted by the organisation's accredited audit firms to ensure consistency with assessment criteria

  • Liaising with key external stakeholders and accredited audit firms on audit report omissions and clarifications to guarantee the integrity of the organisation's certification process

  • Managing internal procedures and systems to maintain compliance with the ISEAL assurance code

  • Working with the wider organisation to feed insights from the certification process into the assurance framework

The successful candidate will play a key role in the supporting the RJC's commitment to industry improvement, providing a common standard for responsible business practices from mine to retail and improving ethical, social, human rights and environmental conditions.

Experience Required:

  • Proven experience of assurance and certification systems or auditing, preferably in environmental or social standard systems

  • Strong level of understanding of sustainability issues, such as business ethics, environmental impacts, labour and working conditions, health & safety, responsible sourcing and human rights

  • A self-motivated and independent working style, able to work collaboratively within a small and dynamic team

  • A detail oriented, methodical approach supported by a high-level understanding of sustainability issues such as business ethics, environmental impact, labour and working conditions responsible sourcing and human rights
