Job Description - Communications Manager Acre is incredibly excited to partner with Plastic Oceans (UK) to source an ambitious, energetic and assertive Communications Manager. This newly created role will provide an ambitious individual with an opportunity to help shape the organisation's future and turn awareness into action by activating young people as agents of change. Plastic Oceans (UK) is a dedicated non-profit organisation who first defined their mission to, 'End plastic entering the ocean within a generation' in 2009. Since then they have been at the forefront of raising awareness of plastic pollution - including production of the award-winning feature length film A Plastic Ocean. This role will initially report to the Business Manager and will work closely with the CEO, Simon Usher, the Founder, Jo Ruxton, and the rest of the UK team. Responsibilities for this unique position include:
  • Creating inspiring and timely content while planning and implementing effective communication strategies for key audiences
  • Commissioning content internally and using external agencies where appropriate
  • Working directly with the wider team to ensure everyone plays their unique role while reviewing and modifying communication strategies
  • Ownership of the website, social media platforms, email distributions; ensuring brand credibility is maintained
  • Implementing digital marketing campaigns and strengthening media relationships with both mainstream and trade press
  • Overseeing internal implementation of key systems (CRM/Salesforce, Mailchimp, Planoly, Hootsuite, digital marketing platform Turtle)
