Acre are proud to be supporting one of Europe's leading asset managers on their search for a Corporate Engagement Director to be based in London.

This is a newly created senior role as they continue to drive innovation in sustainable investing. The role holder will work with, and contribute to the development of, a new range of funds focused on investing in companies which have potential for "impact" through working with them to address specifically the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through an active ownership model implemented by the engagement director this strategy will deliver quantifiable improvements to the companies in the context of those objectives, whilst continuing to deliver positive investment returns. The key focus will be on North American companies, together with some UK and EU exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take an innovative approach to develop a strategic engagement plan facilitating regular dialogue and meetings at Board and Executive Committee level at selected companies on all relevant corporate governance, long-term strategy and environmental and social risks.
  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers to produce technical investment appraisals for investee companies.
  • Lead on developing client relationships and new business opportunities with other distribution partners for the funds.
  • Assess the risks and opportunities presented by the SDG drivers alongside wider ESG issues to enhance the investment process through high quality engagement-driven research.
  • Participate in variety of promotional activities including representing the business at relevant conferences and events.
Experience sought:
  • Familiarity with business culture in North America and ability to understand and relate to cultural norms and building relationships with key contacts in that market.
  • In depth understanding of the risks and opportunities that the shift to a more sustainable global economy represents.
  • Strong understanding of the SDGs and how they can be utilized to influence strategy in companies and portfolio management teams.
Although the role will be based in London, the role holder will be required to undertake regular travel to relevant countries, mainly the USA and Canada.
