Acre is delighted to partner with IHG®, one of the world's leading hotel companies, to hire a Director of Corporate Responsibility for Greater China. This role is a business-critical hire for IHG as Greater China is its fastest growing and second biggest market.

Based in Shanghai, and reporting to the VP Global Corporate Responsibility, you will form part of the CR Global Leadership team. The Director will be responsible for providing leadership across all aspects of the Greater China CR Agenda, working closely with the business to develop, implement and embed the GC environmental and community investment strategies across all IHG hotels and corporate offices in the region. This encompasses;

  • Greater China True Hospitality for Good (THFG) strategy
  • Greater China environmental delivery plan (carbon, waste and water reduction, and water stewardship)

Responsibilities;

  • Utilise sustainability, networks and knowledge within Greater China to act as an advisor and sustainability subject matter expert for the business, representing IHG with external stakeholders in the region
  • Lead the Greater China True Hospitality for Good (THFG) Charitable Fund via the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation
  • In partnership with the Director Environmental Sustainability develop tailored environmental sustainability communication "packages" for all key stakeholder groups in the region
  • Embed and integrate the full CR agenda into the overall business strategy

The successful candidate needs to have expertise and experience in developing and implementing a CR strategy in China, with a focus on environmental footprint reduction and strategic philanthropy. You will need to have worked for a global brand-led business and be effective at building relationships as well as, engaging and influencing senior stakeholders within a complex matrix organisation.

Experience required:

  • Bachelors or master's degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, key trends and best practice within hospitality or associated industries
  • An exceptional network with NGO partners in the region and experience of Chinese charities law, governance and fundraising
  • A track record of developing business cases for sustainability strategies
  • Able to conduct business (written and spoken) in Chinese and English.
