Acre is delighted to be working with a world leading financial institution to find a Director of ESG -Research & Advocacy. This newly created role will build and lead a team capable of delivering high quality research to bring to life the materiality of sustainability issues for investors. The output of this team will also be instrumental in driving the group's active ownership strategy.

In performing the role, the Director will take a long-term view on sustainable outcomes of ESG issues and how these should be incorporated into financial markets. This mandate will give the capacity to further develop how ESG research can be a catalyst for genuine change in how investors attribute value in their portfolios.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Developing the firm's approach to assessing and integrating ESG issues into their core functions.
  • Overseeing and contributing to the production of investment relevant, ESG issue analysis to develop the group as an industry leader, showing how financial institutions can proactively drive change through engaging with corporates on ESG issues.
  • Contributing to the development of policy positions on ESG issues.
  • Coordinating and developing a team of analysts with deep subject matter expertise on ESG issues.
  • Overseeing the firm's participation in relevant think tanks, research institutes, industry initiatives and relevant non-governmental organisations.
  • Providing oversight and leadership to the team, supporting their development and managing their performance effectively to help the team fulfil their potential.

Experiences Sought:

  • Proven track record of directing ESG / sustainable research programmes and teams to produce world class analysis for corporations and/or investors.
  • Relationships with key sustainability and research institutes and non-governmental organisations in multiple countries.
  • Proven project and people management skills with experience of delivering leadership at a global level.
  • Past experience developing and managing strategy, business plans and resourcing requirements.
  • Excellent networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills. Ability to forge long-term relationships with industry leaders and drive decision-making in diverse, multi-stakeholder groups.
  • As this is a global role, international travel may be required.
