Ball Beverage Packaging North & Central America (BPNCA) has partnered with Acre to identify an exceptional Director of Sustainability. Ball Beverage Packaging (part of Ball Corporation) is the largest producer of recyclable metal beverage packaging in the world. Putting technical know-how, passion and innovation at the heart of its business, Ball's ambition is to make the beverage can the most sustainable beverage packaging in the world.

Reporting into the Vice President of Sustainability and Public of Affairs, the Director of Sustainability will apply subject matter expertise to the development of BPNCA commercial strategies, programs and activities to position the can as the most sustainable package and facilitate improvement in Ball's sustainability credentials.

Representing Ball at conferences and trade shows as a subject matter expert on packaging sustainability, you will also be responsible for developing effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, to drive can penetration and to support Ball Corporation in achieving its sustainability targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing regional sustainability and public affairs strategies to create a market environment that favors cans and supports BPNCA's efforts to commercialize the sustainability credentials of the can
  • Partnering with key stakeholders to shape packaging and packaging waste-related policy opportunities
  • Creating partnerships and programs to increase metal packaging recycling rates in North America
  • Advising key functions of Marketing, Communications and the Global Sustainability Center of Expertise (COE) to create impactful internal and external communications
  • Partnering directly with BPNCA customers on sustainability strategies and initiatives, helping to ensure that cans are the preferred beverage package and that Ball is seen as the supplier of choice by our customers
  • Partnering with regional Sourcing and Operations teams to embed sustainability strategy into procurement and plant operations activities
  • Translating sustainability initiatives into new business opportunities through coordination of marketing and innovation programs to address customer and Ball's business and sustainability goals
  • Providing thought leadership on corporate and product sustainability at conferences and with customers, retailers, suppliers and other external stakeholders

This person will be a credible and established sustainability leader, ideally with a background in the circular economy and sustainable packaging.
