Our Client is a leading international supplier of engineered components to the door and window industry. By creating advanced designs and working through performance requirements, our client creates a solution that best meets business objectives. Our client is expanding their North American workforce, which currently includes over 2,500 employees with a net revenue over $500 million.

We have been given the mandate to recruit a Divisional Director - Health, Safety, and Sustainability to join the North American team to lead and embed a strong culture across the business to deliver HSS excellence.

The position will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer. The ideal location for the position will be in the Minneapolis area due to the two facilities in the region but there are other options available in terms of location.

Responsibilities

Act as the company's subject matter expert related to occupational health, safety and sustainability in order to drive ownership of a renewed holistic approach to safety engagement in manufacturing operations and product impacts on the environment.

Lead the deployment of the Group's safety leadership program across the company and influence business leaders to shape and implement robust programs that drive continuous improvement where required.

Coach the Executive team and other senior leaders in role modeling the behaviors to drive a strong safety culture.

Leadership and professional development of 6 site-based safety and EHS managers across North America.

Ensure all serious incidents and near misses are reported and investigated (root cause analysis) in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.

Maintain Group Health, Safety and Sustainability reporting to the Executive Leadership Team and Parent company.

Develop, deploy and maintain the Division's health and safety policies, arrangements and procedures.

Proactively identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement in health, safety and sustainability performance across the Division, assisting the Executive Team in their implementation.

Provide advice on EHS Legislation, industry best practice and their practical application across the Division.

Develop and deliver EHS training programs to reduce risk and the occurrence of incidents and other unwanted events.

Audit HSS performance across the organization, identify and track follow-up actions to completion.

Act as the representative to external third parties, regulators and related bodies for all HSS topics.

Experience

Minimum of 10 years in corporate health, safety and environmental roles with multi-site experience, ideally in a manufacturing / distribution environment.

Proven track record in leading and transforming safety performance and able to demonstrate deep experience of delivering performance improvements, cultural change, and enhancing management systems in organizations with varying levels of Safety maturity.


Experienced Facilitator, Trainer and workshop design/delivery with sufficient gravitas and credibility to challenge conventional thinking.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the business, as well as customers, and suppliers.

Ability to operate at a strategic level and motivate to direct businesses to achieve measurable results.

Able to work individually and part of an executive-level management team.

Good coordination and highly developed presentation skills.

Excellent report writing skills.

Assertive personality, sensitive to multi-cultural, multi-national environments, and diplomacy to sell the benefits and overcome obstacles and resistance to change.
