Acre is delighted to be retained by the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) to appoint a Head of Development Impact (DI) for their London office.

This is an innovative leadership role, responsible for the delivery of impact throughout PIDG's operations.

Company overview

PIDG is an innovative infrastructure development and finance organisation which encourages and mobilises private investment in pioneering infrastructure in the frontier markets of sub-Saharan Africa and south and south-east Asia.

PIDG's purpose is to combat poverty in the poorest and most fragile countries to help economies grow and change people's lives.

Established in 2002 and funded by six governments and the IFC, they are now a sizeable organization. $33.7bn has been invested by private sector investors and development finance institutions alongside PIDG's $3.2bn commitment to infrastructure projects.

An early proponent of blended finance, PIDG operates collaboratively along all stages of an infrastructure project's life-cycle and across the capital structure, to help projects overcome financial, technical or environmental challenges. By doing so they create investment-ready, bankable infrastructure opportunities.

This senior appointment coincides with the launch of PIDG's new 5-year strategy for expansion and increased scalability. A member of the PIDG Executive Committee and reporting into the CEO, responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the assessment, measurement and management of the development impact achieved through PIDG's activities and throughout the investment lifecycle
  • Developing PIDG's approach in sectors highlighted in the strategy - water, off-grid solar, economic zones and affordable housing - to identify how PIDG can maximise its development impact in these areas
  • Managing and mentoring a development impact team
  • Raising PIDG's external profile as a thought leader at the forefront of development impact though public engagement, speaking at conferences and events

  • Leadership credibility combined with experience of sustainable impact in emerging markets
  • The ability to contextualise the relevance and practicality of development impact within the realities of financial markets and commercial transactions.
  • A proven track record of developing teams and the individuals within them

PIDG's activities are at the heart of what is needed to deliver on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

This is a unique opportunity to play a significant part in the global transition to a sustainable economy, within a business that is uniquely positioned to catalyse high-impact change, and drive innovation.

We are only able to accept applications from candidates legally able to work in the UK. Application closing date 26th April 2019.
