Acre is delighted to be retained by pladis, the fast growing global confectionary/FMCG business, to source a Head of Sustainability.

Formed in 2016, pladis global brings together over 300 years of family baking and confectionary experience with some of the worlds most loved snacking brands including McVities (United Biscuits), Ulker and GODIVA. With turnover and market share fast growing, sustainability is increasingly on the agenda.

With reporting lines to the Chief Procurement Officer, and board-level exposure, the Head of Sustainability will be developing, coordinating and ensuring the implementation of a holistic CSR and sustainability strategy across the entirety of pladis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain and implement an overarching sustainability strategy across pladis which is ambitious but aligned
  • Set KPIs to track organisational progress against the strategy over time, reporting to internal stakeholders
  • Drive the sustainability strategy in palm oil, and develop similar policies across other key commodity areas
  • Design a pipeline of sustainability and CSR projects which add value to communities in sourcing countries
  • Proactively engage with NGOs and other external stakeholders ensuring strategies are impactful, realistic and aligned
  • Develop an ethical trade programme and best practice policies to engage with suppliers ensuring best practice within the supply chain

The successful candidate will be at the forefront of furthering excellence within pladis global procurement, and beyond, ensuring sustainability is embedded within brands and across all departments.

Requirements include:

  • Experience in developing, delivering and influencing with a holistic sustainability strategy
  • Preferably previous experience in the food and beverage sector
  • Extensive experience in responsible sourcing and working with NGOs to deliver realistic yet ambitious policies
  • Ability to and interest in influencing across a matrix multicultural business
  • Excellent change management skills and a passionate, pragmatic approach to sustainability
