Acre is delighted to be working for one of Mayfair's leading investment groups on this newly created role. The firm has decided to allocate £100m per year to build a portfolio of high impact, equity investments aimed at solving some of humanity's greatest challenges. The fund will also enhance and evolve the current philanthropic activities of the group.

The Impact investing Director will build and subsequently lead a team to execute and complete deals as well as manage all engagements, expenses and disbursements related to the portfolio. Initially the portfolio will focus its deal sourcing activities in Eastern Africa and India.

Themes for the fund will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Empowering individuals in low income areas to control their sexual and reproductive health to avoid unintended pregnancy, unsafe abortion and HIV/AIDS.
  • Improving children and mothers' health and nutrition, eliminating deaths from severe acute malnutrition.
  • Ending child labour and sexual exploitation.
  • Creating a climate-safe future for today's and future generations that also bear the benefits of cleaner air, energy security and sustainable jobs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing management of the investment portfolio though active engagements with portfolio companies to assess and enhance both financial and impact performance.
  • Acting as a leader for the impact investing programme, ensuring that all internal and external stakeholders have a comprehensive understanding of the scope, capacity and achievements of the programme.
  • Producing high-quality strategic reviews for the firm's leadership and board on the performance of the portfolio, together with specific actions to ensure the effective and timely resolutions of any issues in a timely fashion.
  • Providing financial scrutiny through detailed due diligence of all potential deals to ensure that the firm optimises the value of its capital allocation for impact investing.
  • Proactively maintain extensive external networks with experts and opinion-formers within the international development community
  • To facilitate blended finance deals and capitalise on collaborative opportunities to deliver impact at scale.

Experiences sought:

  • Investment experience at a top-tier venture capital, private equity or similar financial institution where (s)he was/is active in deal sourcing, execution and portfolio engagement.
  • Minimum of ten-years of applicable career and / or graduate school experience is required.
  • Experience leading highly-skilled, multi-disciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds in a complex, dynamic and fast-moving environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of impact measure methodologies, ideally in emerging markets.
  • Deal sourcing and execution in regions with less sophisticated financial institutions/ regulatory environments.
  • Proven ability to manage a highly diverse portfolio across multiple sectors.
  • Detailed understanding of using cost-benefit and ROI methodologies and metrics to inform strategy and business planning
