A high-impact, global retailer is partnering with Acre to appoint a Cotton Programme Manager. This brand-new role has been created due to the rapid increase in cotton farmers in the business' supply chain, and their commitment to expanding gender equality programmes within farming communities in India and beyond.

Reporting into the Country Manager, and working closely with the existing India team, this is an exciting and inspiring opportunity to work closely with regional partners to develop chain of custody and due diligence programmes for factories and farmers, creating interventions that enhance human welfare and decrease environmental impact.

You will be responsible for:

  • Crafting a due diligence programme to asses the link between factories and farmers
  • Building relationships with existing and new growers, NGOs and cotton supply chain partners
  • Managing the businesses chain of custody for cotton in India, from farmer to garment
  • Developing training programmes for cotton workers on ethical and environmental practices
  • Managing an expert local team

The successful candidate will be a flexible leader, capable of building excitement amongst stakeholders.

You will have:

  • A strong track record in ethical trade or environmental sustainability
  • Experience working with agricultural commodities; an understanding of the complexities of agricultural supply chains
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and engagement skills, able to engender trust and foster collaboration between partners, farmers and regional sites across India
  • Previous demonstrable success of creating and managing partnerships
  • Ability to travel frequently within India
