Acre is delighted to be partnering with an industry body committed to protecting workers rights in the global coal supply chain.

Responsible mining is essential to the sustainable growth of our societies, and coal still has a significant role to play in the economy through its multiple uses as a source of energy. Reporting into the Executive Director, the Sustainability Communications Manager will oversee the membership relations, managing the development and implementation of members' reporting obligations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage membership engagement by collecting and interpreting data to report recommendations and improvements
  • Present results and discuss recommendations with members
  • Drive the communications strategy in line with the organisation's purpose, values and objectives in order to increase credibility and transparency, including social media and other outreach channels
  • Work with the Executive Director to identify marketing and partnership opportunities with senior stakeholders
  • Responsible for the publication of the annual report, including communicating commitments to the UN Global Compact biannually

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to represent the organisation at various industry forums and international meetings, as well as the possibility of international visits to experience on-site audits in coal-producing countries.

Experience Required:

  • An ability to communicate and engage clearly, effectively and confidently with senior stakeholders, and through various internal and external communication platforms
  • Analysis of data to produce reports and derive conclusions and guidance
  • Knowledge and experience of working with the SDG's
  • Demonstrable written communications and engagement experience with a sustainability focus
  • Knowledge of the mining sector desirable, but not essential

The successful candidate will have the opportunity drive real, measurable change within a challenging industry and to steer the organisations commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals while supporting a just transition to cleaner energy.
