Youth Engagement Manager Acre is incredibly excited to partner with Plastic Oceans (UK) to source an ambitious, energetic and assertive Youth Engagement Manager. This newly created role will provide an ambitious individual with an opportunity to help shape the organisation's future and turn awareness into action by activating young people as agents of change. Plastic Oceans (UK) is a dedicated non-profit organisation who first defined their mission to, 'End plastic entering the ocean within a generation' in 2009. Since then they have been at the forefront of raising awareness of plastic pollution - including production of the award-winning feature length film A Plastic Ocean. This role will initially report directly to the CEO and will work closely with the Founder, Jo Ruxton and the rest of the UK team. Responsibilities for this unique position include:
  • Planning and implementing activities with young people to lead change in their communities while monitoring and improving the outcomes
  • Developing and managing relationships with partner organisations that expand the reach and impact of PO's proposition
  • Supporting effective fundraising activities while actively developing 'fundable propositions; linking investment with measurable reach and outcomes
  • Facilitating constructive feedback and working with the wider PO team to improve existing and develop new propositions
  • Acting as the 'face of Plastic Oceans' youth engagement work
  • Ensuring all activities have a process, an outcome and measurable impacts

  • Previous, relevant and tangible youth engagement and/or education experience
  • A passion and enthusiasm for the sustainability/environmental sector
  • Flexibility, emotional intelligence, self-awareness and a thoughtful, tenacious and inspiring nature
  • Being comfortable with ambiguity and motivated by the opportunity to foster a positive, fun and pro-active youth-led change movement
