Location: Remote (US-based, preference for EST time zone), plus travel.

Our client is an asset manager dedicated to mobilizing private sector investments in water and sanitation in emerging and frontier markets. The firm invests in financial institutions, enterprises, and infrastructure, delivering access to safe water and sanitation to low-income consumers, aligning investor values with risk-adjusted returns.

We are supporting this client's search for a Senior Director of Business Development and Investor Relations (BDIR) to engage in capital raising and investor relations, as well as to support product development efforts. Reporting to the Chief Investor Relations Officer, the role will in the near-term spearhead capital raising efforts for a new evergreen private debt strategy.

This role is an opportunity for an individual deeply committed to utilizing the capital markets as a solution to addressing global inequality, climate change, and the water crisis. Candidates should have a strong track record of raising capital across a broad spectrum of investors, including foundations, family offices, HNWIs, DFIs, and institutional investors. Job Responsibilities

  • Direct business development efforts for the firm's institutions investment strategy, which provides debt financing to financial institutions to scale their water and sanitation microlending efforts. This includes developing and executing capital-raising strategies across a diverse set of investor types, including foundations, corporations, family offices, HNWIs, Donor Advised Funds, Development Finance Institutions, and institutional

  • Collaborate with key team members to create organizational, fund, and investor-specific collateral such as pitch decks, teasers, key fund marketing materials, and due diligence materials, and maintain a due diligence questionnaire database.

  • Manage all stages of the sales cycle from targeting to closing, including investor inquiries and due diligence requests.

  • Assist with investor relations activities and ensure the highest standards of client service for investors and prospects.

  • Provide insight on investor behavior and key trends to influence business and product development strategies, including leading and/or supporting internal and external conversations with strategic partners.

  • Represent the firm at various industry conferences around the world, including GIIN, SOCAP, and UN Climate.

  • Collaborate with nonprofits to raise awareness of the global water crisis and to cultivate strategic capital-raising opportunities.

Desired Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, fundraising, and/or investor relations, with a successful track record of raising investment capital.

  • Knowledge of and experience with alternative investment products, including emerging markets, private debt and/or evergreen funds

  • Ability to understand, market, and articulate investment and impact strategies to a broad network of investors, particularly those interested in impact

  • Understanding of impact strategies-particularly targeting emerging markets-related to systems change, financial inclusion, gender equity, and/or climate

  • Specific experience in the following areas a plus: (a) raising funds for green financing and managing investor expectations related to this (e.g. greenwashing); (b) raising funds for guarantee financing; and (c) raising funds outside the S.

  • Experience collecting and conveying feedback from key stakeholders and the market at large, contributing to product development and strategic

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Ability to inspire and build relationships that will drive funding

  • An effective team player with the ability to partner with people of all levels across multiple global

  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time (domestically and internationally).

Overall compensation will be commensurate with education and experience and structured to reflect a competitive package for a full-time team member.
