The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) is seeking a visionary and strategic Executive Director to lead the organisation into its next chapter of global impact. This senior leadership role will guide a talented, mission-driven team working at the intersection of sustainability, innovation, and policy. The Executive Director will shape and implement RSB’s global strategy across certification, advisory services, innovation, and stakeholder engagement. They will also be responsible for overseeing governance, operations, and financial management—ensuring that RSB continues to be a globally trusted leader in the sustainable bioeconomy.
As the Executive Director you will
- Lead and integrate RSB’s global strategy across certification, advisory services, innovation, and stakeholder engagement—ensuring coherence, ambition, and measurable impact across all areas of work.
- Inspire and manage a high-performing, remote Secretariat team by fostering a values-driven, inclusive culture, supporting professional development, and ensuring effective operational delivery.
- Strengthen and expand RSB’s global partnerships by engaging with stakeholders from industry, government, civil society, and multilateral institutions—positioning RSB as a respected thought leader in sustainable transitions.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to define long-term strategic direction, report on organisational progress, ensure sound governance, and safeguard overall institutional health and transparency.
- Oversee financial sustainability and legal compliance, including fundraising, risk management, and internal controls—ensuring responsible stewardship of RSB’s resources and mission integrity.
You will
- Bring at least 10 years of senior leadership experience in sustainability, standard-setting, or non-profit management.
- Demonstrate a proven track record in strategic planning, organisational development, and team leadership.
- Possess deep expertise in sustainability frameworks, particularly those relating to circular, bio-based, or decarbonisation strategies.
- Be highly skilled in stakeholder engagement, strategic partnership development, and international representation.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills in English, high ethical standards, and a collaborative, inclusive leadership style.
