Acre is proud to be supporting The Copper Mark in their search for a Communications Manager.

As mining and metals become increasingly critical to the global supply chain and the energy transition, responsible production and sustainable development are essential to meeting growing demands.

The Copper Mark is working with companies throughout the metals value chain to enable them to meet the demands for responsible production practices, supporting sustainable development and mitigating environmental degradation to the benefit of local communities, customers, and consumers.

The Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative (CMSI) is a collaboration between The Copper MarkICMMMining Association of Canada (MAC) and World Gold Council (WGC) (herein ‘the partners’) to consolidate their different voluntary responsible mining standards into one global standard, accessible to any company with a commitment to mine responsibly.

The vision is for a sustainable society, enabled by the responsible production, sourcing, and recycling of metals and minerals. The Copper Mark, including its Board, will transition and evolve into the independent entity that will oversee the Consolidated Standard.

The Communications Manager will manage The Copper Mark’s ongoing communications and support the transition into the independent entity that will oversee the Consolidated Standard. 

 

They are seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Manager to lead internal and external communications for our organisation. This individual will be responsible for shaping and maintaining our brand voice, managing media relations, managing content development, and ensuring consistent messaging across all communication channels. The ideal candidate has strong writing skills, capacity to engage with multiple stakeholders, media relations experience, and a proven track record of executing effective communication strategies that align with business goals.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to support company objectives and enhance brand reputation. This includes exploring new platforms, types of content and advertising plans. 
  • This includes both the Copper Mark and the evolution into the Consolidated Standard.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media relations, including drafting press releases, pitching stories, and managing media inquiries.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to activate shared platforms and encourage amplification of our content.
  • Lead marketing and communication of virtual and in-person events.
  • Day-to-day management of social channels with support from an agency, including community management, issue tracking, targeted paid social, content planning, production and posting.
  • Craft compelling content for various platforms, including company newsletters, blog posts, speeches, executive messaging, social media, and website.
  • Manage company publications (Newsletter) and annual reporting.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on the effectiveness of communication initiatives and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage crisis communication planning and execution.
  • Maintain and enforce brand guidelines and messaging consistency.
  • Creation and/or commissioning of visual content for social media depending on skills set.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience in communications.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with digital communication tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with an array of stakeholders.
  • Experience or exposure to the mining sector.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in French or Spanish is an asset.
  • Crisis communication experience is a plus.
