Are you passionate about shaping the future of sustainability in industry? Acre is working with a materials focused non-profit to find a Sustainability Executive to drive forward its sustainability agenda and act as a trusted voice across the sector.
This is a unique opportunity to develop into the organisation’s in-house specialist on a broad range of sustainability issues, from net zero and ESG to waste and life-cycle assessment. You’ll work closely with senior leaders across the industry, government institutions in the UK and EU, and international stakeholders, influencing the sector’s transition towards a more sustainable future.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as the in-house expert on sustainability, providing leadership across issues such as carbon reduction, ESG reporting, and environmental legislation
- Managing and growing the Sustainability Committee and subgroups, coordinating projects that enhance the industry’s sustainability profile.
- Driving high-level initiatives to improve environmental performance and promote the sustainable credentials of plastics.
- Building strong relationships with members, committee chairs, government, and external organisations to accelerate industry-wide change.
- Contributing to seminars, events, and communications that shape the public conversation on plastics and sustainability.
- Collaborating with colleagues on campaigns, public affairs strategies, and international projects.
What we’re looking for:
- At least 2 years’ commercial or industrial experience, ideally in sustainability, with a solid understanding of issues including net zero, ESG and LCA.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and deliver initiatives to deadline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – confident in presenting technical and business issues to diverse audiences.
- A relevant professional qualification in a technical or business discipline, combined with scientific literacy.
- A collaborative team player with the interpersonal skills to influence at all levels, from industry leaders to government stakeholders.
