Are you an experienced communications leader ready to hit the ground running? We’re seeking an Interim Head of Communications to lead a high-performing team through a dynamic and impactful 4-month assignment, covering parental leave.

About the Role

Starting ASAP (with the current post-holder departing in the second week of May), you’ll steer a well-established Communications function through a busy and exciting period, while leading a small team of 3 people.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Communications team during parental leave cover.
  • Drive forward the implementation of the communications strategy and work plan, including:
  • Oversight of website and print collateral, content development, and design.
  • Development of thought leadership content.
  • Shaping and executing the direct communications content strategy.
  • Management of the digital strategy, including social media and ambassador activation.
  • Media engagement and relations.
  • Event strategy and delivery.
  • Monitor and report on progress against communications objectives in collaboration with the Campaigns Manager.
  • Lead planning and delivery of a major 2-day conference in Paris (early June), as well as other ongoing event activities.

 

What They're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in a non-profit, NGO, or similar environment working in a communications capacity.
  • Proven leadership in a senior communications role.
  • Strong experience across digital, content, media, and events.
  • Confidently managing remote teams and delivering at pace.
  • Ability to start quickly and manage competing priorities with a positive, proactive approach.

Acre is currently working with a market-leading transport organisation that has sustainability at the forefront of everything they do and is responsible for serving millions of customers every single year. Join as a Sustainability Executive, as part of their dynamic Sustainability Team, for an initial 6-month fixed-term contract.

 

 

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the airport’s ambitious commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2040. As a Sustainability Executive, you’ll play a vital role in supporting a range of major projects and initiatives aimed at improving carbon performance and driving impactful change across the site’s operations.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of sustainability and net zero projects, helping to shape the organisation’s strategic environmental goals.
  • Manage multiple projects to improve Scope 1 and 2 carbon performance, including fleet decarbonisation and on-site energy efficiency.
  • Assist in project planning, documentation, and stakeholder management to ensure timely and smooth delivery of initiatives.
  • Support renewable energy projects, helping to deliver low-carbon technology benefits across the site.
  • Develop business cases for energy management improvements, assisting in capex budget planning and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Legal, and Operations teams to drive projects forward and secure supplier agreements.
  • Maintain detailed project tracking systems, spreadsheets, and reporting mechanisms to ensure effective management and compliance.

What you will bring

  • A minimum ofyears’ experience in sustainability or project support roles, ideally within infrastructure, aviation, construction, or similar sectors.
  • A relevant degree in environmental management, sustainability, business, or related fields (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong project management skills with a highly organised, detail-oriented approach.
  • Analytical skills with confident use of database systems and advanced Excel.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to manage and influence a wide range of internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, balancing multiple projects simultaneously with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
