The company is steadily growing and is looking to hire a Carbon Projects Director to further strengthen the team.

Carbon Projects Director

The Carbon Projects Director reports directly to the CEO and has a key position within Removall Carbon. Together with their team, the director is responsible for managing the full carbon project lifecycle in Removall's international portfolio.

Removall is looking for a strong and strategic business leader who brings a solid understanding of (international) carbon projects to the role.

The role will be based in Paris, with good options for home working. Travel abroad to support the carbon projects is expected as part of the role.

Most Important Responsibilities

Sourcing and Due Diligence

  • Structure and reinforce Removall's network of project developers

  • Coordinate sourcing and origination of carbon offsetting projects to be developed and/or financed by Removall.

  • Oversee the due diligence process for new project opportunities.

  • Sign strategic and exclusive partnerships with recognized project developers having a proven track record on the market or in their field of expertise.

Development, Investment and Project Certification

  • Oversee the whole development & investment process by coordinating the team's work.

  • Analyze and prioritize investment opportunities.

  • Support the team in their discussion with project developers in order to assess the projects' activities and the carbon methodologies applied to the projects.

  • Perform critical reviews of the carbon calculations and business plans prepared by project developers and partners. Evaluate the robustness of investment opportunities.

  • Coordinate the work of advisory partners and sub-contractors for the carbon certification of projects.

Contracting, Projects and Investments Follow-Up

  • Lead technical, commercial and financial negotiations with project developers in order to prepare investments.

  • Contribute to and oversee the preparation of Investment Committees.

  • Lead contracting with partners to secure the projects, the ownership of carbon credits and the long-term investments done by Removall.

  • Manage the carbon progress of projects invested through the different steps of feasibility, PDD, validation, verification, monitoring, relationships with VVBs and certification standards.

  • Define, follow up and report KPIs: invested amounts, the volume of carbon credits expected and issued for each investments, etc.

Contribute to the Development and General Strategy of the Company

  • Participate in key meetings with partners, prospects and clients of Removall.

  • Participate in the Executive Committee and be an active contributor to Removall's strategy.

  • Coordinate Removall's strategic watch at technical (new project types, new methodologies, new certifications standards), legal, business and competition levels.

  • Represent the company externally in professional conferences, events, networks, media.

The Ideal Candidate

  • At least 10 years' experience on the voluntary carbon market, within a company specialized in carbon offsetting (advisory firm, project developer, auditor/VVB, certification body).

  • Strong experience in carbon offset project development, with a focus on forestry projects (ARR, AFOLU, REDD+, Blue Carbon).

  • Excellent knowledge of carbon certification and methodologies.

  • Proven experience in realizing investments - excellent "business sense".

  • Good negotiation skills and the capacity to close large deals.

  • Strong international experience, preferably working on carbon projects on the ground.

  • Well-developed leadership capabilities - an inspiring leader with the ability to motivate and coach the team.

  • Fluency in English is required - French and/or Spanish is considered a plus.
