Job Purpose

Service delivery:

  • a) Support and lead the delivery of 'diagnostics' work in forced labour investigations, and social audits (following completion of internal and on the job training). This may include worker interviewing, auditing, management interviews, document review, and site inspections, as well as oversight of the above tasks undertaken by international colleagues. There is an expectation that both on-site field work, and remote assessment will both be common.

  • b) Support and lead the delivery of our work in remediation of forced labour, including strategic consulting support, and training where appropriate

Project management:

  • To drive and support projects providing administrative, technical input, working with the senior leadership team, principal consultants and / or other team members to achieve project success.

Account management

  • Proactively lead, manage, and grow a number of small to medium clients/accounts and support growth of larger ones. Establish, develop and maintain excellent working relationships with new and existing clients, ensuring that their needs are anticipated, understood and responded to, thereby promoting Impactt's business and commercial activities in line with business plans

Key Accountabilities:

  • To provide excellent project management advice and/or support, ensuring professionalism in service delivery directly or indirectly, in the management of small to medium sized projects, supporting large sized projects where needeD

  • New Business Development - supporting the forced labour team to develop proposals and bring in new workstreams as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Proactively and independently lead, support and grow a number of small to medium clients/accounts and growth of larger accounts and demonstrate excellent project management skills, including:

  • Finances - knowledge of project management software a plus - this includes knowledge of basic accounting

  • Resources Planning and Briefing o Activities Timetabling, including monitoring on-time work progress o Risk Identification, Solutions Finding & escalation to adequate manager o Excellent time management and able to time manage team effectively, ensuring ontime and on-budget delivery

  • Lead small to medium sized proposal development, and support larger proposal development, to win new work for the forced labour team.

  • Facilitate and lead meetings with clients independently.

  • Write high quality reports in Impactt style and branding.

  • Lead fieldwork in the UK and internationally on small to medium sized projects as project need dictates. Support the delivery of larger international projects, working closely with the international teams.

  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required that are consistent with the grade and purpose of the post

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a related field such as Social

  • Sciences, International development, Business Studies, Human Rights, or otherwise, substantial working experience in the field of Sustainability / Social / Ethical Trade

  • Evidence of continually developing professional knowledge

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience

  • 1-2 years of working experience in a similar role (ethical trade/sustainable sourcing operations, social audit, sustainability, investigations or similar)

  • Project Management Experience incorporating the planning and progressing project management activities using general project management principles, using initiative and judgement.

  • International and Cross-cultural work experience with a sensitivity to a multi-cultural global environment / working in developing countries

  • Experience in or exposure to social compliance auditing and/or beyond compliance activities

  • Experience in business development including replying to RFPs and proposal writing

  • Experience in managing project budgets

  • Experience delivering fieldwork

  • Experience in the application of the ILO's Forced Labour Indicators to real-life situations

  • Experience in developing, monitoring, or implementing corrective action plans at a factory/supplier level, relative to worker welfare and/or forced labour issues

  • Knowledge of global definitions of Forced Labour and Modern slavery, as well as varied approaches towards tackling these

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ethical / Social Audit Experience or understanding of factory setup

  • Data Analysis Skills involving advanced use of excel and large data sets

  • Reporting Writing Skills

  • Presentation & Facilitation skills

  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills

  • Understanding of relevant policy, legislation and soft law to area of work

  • Proven ability to work to high quality, with demanding clients meeting tight deadlines
