Summary

As the Director of HR and People Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our organization by leading our human resources function and managing a small team of specialized HR professionals to operationalize HR programs and services. You will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies and programs that align with our business objectives and support our ambitious growth plans. This role spans tactical to strategic, owning and administering the HR function end-to-end while supporting internal partners to facilitate organization growth and achievement of goals. This role is key in guiding and contributing to living our values and embodying our People-First culture.

Key Responsibilities

The Director will design and implement HR Operations, and collaborate with the Talent Development and Culture manager to operationalize People Programs as listed below:

HR Operations:

  • Strategic HR Planning: Develop and execute HR strategies and initiatives that align with the company's culture and support overall business objectives/growth plans. This includes workforce planning to ensure headcount growth is aligned with budgets and organizational capacity needs.

  • HR Operations: Oversee day-to-day HR operations, including payroll, benefits administration, visa sponsorship, employee records management, and HRIS maintenance. Streamline processes and implement technology solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Talent Acquisition and Retention: Oversee the recruitment and hiring process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new talent. This includes managing tight timelines and leveraging outsourced recruiting partners. Implement effective retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.

  • Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted resource to managers and employees, providing support and resources for career development, performance management, team management, and other employee relations issues. Leverages Clifton Strengths methodology.

  • Compensation and Benefits: Develop and administer competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent. Monitor industry trends and evaluate the competitive landscape and create strategies to adapt to changing market trends to ensure that our compensation and benefits offerings remain competitive.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and company policies. Stay updated on changes in legislation and best practices to minimize risks and maintain a positive work environment.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Drive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization. Develop strategies to build a diverse workforce and foster an inclusive culture where all employees feel valued and empowered.

  • Technology and Metrics: Own and evolve the people-related tech stack including recruiting, HRIS, and learning management systems to ensure integrated systems that scale efficiently as the organization continues to scale. Track people data and analytics to ensure data-driven decision-making, incorporating qualitative and quantitative feedback from engagement surveys, 1:1s, and other sources into creating effective people programs.

People Programs Oversight:

  • Oversee the administration of People Programs, which are managed by the Talent and Culture Manager, ensuring alignment with company goals and values.

  • Provide guidance and support to the Talent and Culture Manager in the design and implementation of employee training, development programs, and initiatives to cultivate a positive workplace culture.

  • Collaborate with the Talent and Culture Manager to coordinate employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR/Business/OD or other related field of study required, advanced degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Professional HR certification preferred (PHR, SPHR or SHRM-SCP)

  • 10+ years' experience leading the People/Human Resources function within a high-growth, small to mid-sized organization. Non-profit or impact investing experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Experience working with leaders, providing coaching & feedback, demonstrating the ability to influence and build relationships. Experience utilizing Clifton Strengths framework preferred

  • In-depth understanding of HR best practices, with the proven ability to move seamlessly from strategy development to execution

  • Proven experience leading the HR function in a fast-paced growth environment

  • Demonstrated understanding of compliance issues, including federal, state, and municipal employment laws

  • Experience designing and managing a total compensation and benefits strategy that is competitive, equitable, and aligned with the company's values

  • Experience working in an HR role in a virtual working environment required

  • High level of integrity and ability to use good judgment

  • Strong skills with Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams required

  • Strong skills with HRIS and LMS platforms required, ADP Workforce Now preferred

  • Proficiency with cloud-based collaboration tools Box and Asana preferred
