Based in fabulous offices in central London, with a fantastic team, FGS Global is a strategic communication consultancy operating in the main business hubs around the world.

To help with growth in London, they are looking for a Director of Sustainability Communications & Strategy to support the delivery and management of ESG assurance, reporting, communications and programmatic projects for clients.

The selected candidate will:

  • Direct, develop and manage the FGS Global ESG practice offer, working with other practice areas across FSG to assist companies in better understanding and developing solutions and communication strategies to respond to the complex and evolving policy, regulatory, and business environment risks and opportunities associated with ESG.

  • Review client business objectives and activities and shape recommendations to enhance their ESG strategies, methods, communication narratives, campaigns, frameworks, and related tools to support clients in achieving their ESG objectives.

  • Develop, manage and review the development of ESG programs and related reporting, such as materiality assessments, peer benchmarking, stakeholder engagement, gap analysis, metric/KPI identification and the preparation of reporting (internal and external) materials.

  • Manage and oversee colleagues performing fieldwork, including project management, client management, review of analysis, work papers, communications collateral, reports and presentations.

  • Manage client relationships, business development efforts, and develop and draft communication collateral.

  • Design and manage the delivery of ESG projects, ensuring quality and liaising with internal and external stakeholders and managing related budgets.

  • Coach junior team members to develop new skills, monitor their performance, support their development and help manage their career growth.

Competencies:

  • Excellence in communications

  • Knowledge of and evidence of relationships with leading ESG-related journalists

  • Proficiency in public speaking, including the ability to present at client workshops and lead client conversations

  • Experience in supporting a team in developing, growing, leading, and inspiring strong teams with a relationship-building management style

  • Ability to quickly learn concepts outside of your area of expertise

  • Application of recognized ESG/sustainability frameworks and standards (SASB, TCFD, GRI or similar)

  • Strong understanding of financial value and sustainable values

  • Qualitative analysis, research and business case development

  • Relationship building at all levels, including with Senior Executives and C-Suite

  • Leadership of diverse teams in complex and ambiguous strategy engagements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in commerce (accounting/ finance/economics), social sciences, sciences, geography, geology (or similar)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate qualification

Minimum Experience:

  • 7+ year minimum work experience in ESG delivery

  • Experience with ESG consulting is required
