Our client is a leading global distributed energy company with a mission to help the world reach net zero. They are looking to hire an Integrated Energy Modelling Analyst for their highly impactful and fast-growing low-carbon solutions team in Madrid. As a fundamental energy analyst, you will focus on power and low-carbon energy market dynamics within Europe. You will conceptualize regulatory scenario analyses and generate crucial insights pivotal for business decisions while also contributing significantly to external engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse energy systems for the south of Europe, including designing and implementing regulatory scenario models
Contribute to the team's understanding of factors like demand dynamics, transmission, regulatory frameworks and generation
Develop sophisticated models using tools like Plexos, R and others
Keep abreast of regulatory and market developments influencing energy pricing within the EU
Represent the team at external engagements to highlight prominence in energy market analytics
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project, markets and strategy departments to drive business decisions
Essential Experience and Education
PhD/Master's degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related analytical domain
Experience in Power Market Fundamental Analysis, with a preference for those familiar with Spain, Italy and Switzerland
Advanced proficiency in using models and tools like PLEXOS, Python SQL and similar tools
Comprehensive grasp of optimization theory, linear programming, and Mixed Integer Programming
Demonstrated capability in scenario development and integration within Fundamental Models, particularly considering regulatory modifications
Understanding of commercial terms used in renewable power purchase agreements
Fluency in English and Spanish
