Our client is a leading global investment group with €35bn in diversified assets under management across various asset classes and strategies. Our client was one of the first investment groups to incorporate sustainable development into its business through a proactive ESG strategy since 2008. Today, ESG and impact are central to its business model, influencing investment selection, transformation, and sustainable growth.

To support this ambitious vision for impact, our client is now seeking an Environmental Manager to further embed ESG into its business and investment processes.

Based in Paris, you will work alongside a team of six ESG and sustainability specialists, including one direct report. You will report to the Head of ESG, a member of the Executive Committee.

What you will be doing

  • Contributing to and implementing our client's environmental strategy.

  • Developing and implementing decarbonisation plans in accordance with the criteria of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), both internally and within portfolio companies.

  • Following and supporting the ESG activities of portfolio companies.

  • Contributing to the improvement of methods and tools for the effective integration of carbon impact analysis into portfolio selection and valuation process.

  • Reviewing and adapting exclusion policies to preclude investments in the most carbon-intensive sectors.

  • Use knowledge of trends and developments to support investment in solutions to reduce carbon emissions and finance "positive solutions", e.g. green and depollution-tech food solutions.

  • Developing action plans relating to water management and biodiversity.

  • Representing the company at events and conferences.

What you will bring

  • Ten years + of experience in environmental/sustainability consulting and carbon assessment and management.

  • Academic background in Environmental sciences and/or sustainable development.

  • Significant experience in working with senior management teams, advising on core elements of a business' sustainability strategy and performance.

  • Strong ability to multitask and manage multiple concurrent projects simultaneously.

  • Prior experience in working with investment, private equity, or financial services environments, with knowledge of the macro trends and drivers of sustainability within private equity.

  • A proven track record of delivering ESG impact or due diligence assessments.

  • Fluency in English. French will be advantageous.
