Due to the growing emphasis on ESG and Sustainability, a leading mid-market global corporate finance advisory firm is looking to hire their first Partner as a Head of ESG Impact.

Working alongside directors, shareholders and investors, this business advises on all aspects of corporate finance from mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and company sales through to management buy-outs (MBOs) and fundraising transactions.

The remit of this Partner will span three core focus areas:

  • Market facing origination and deal execution with businesses that have an emphasis on ESG as a part of their growth strategy, across all sectors

  • Advise and support clients with their ESG strategies

  • The development and implementation of the internal sustainability strategy, including looking at things like D&I and responsible business practices

As Head of Impact, you will have a proven track record of ESG deal mandate origination with a well-established network across ESG. Together with the experience, knowledge, and ability to consultant on ESG and sustainability strategy for clients, as well as lead, develop and implement the sustainability strategy internally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To devise and lead the firm's external sustainability impact business plan

  • Market ESG Impact as a key deal driver for clients and publishing research on ESG & Impact

  • Maintaining a network of leading ESG/Impact contacts in PE and other advisory areas

  • Target potential clients where ESG/Impact is the main growth driver for the business

  • Source high quality clients for the firm using our ESG credentials

  • Act as support partner (equivalent to debt and tech for example) where M&A lead is sector based but ESG/Impact has a big positioning piece for the client

  • Consult to clients on ESG positioning and achievable actions to drive business value

  • Build a broader ESG & Impact team within the UK and in time Internationally

  • Take a lead on ESG & Impact frameworks, measurements and reporting for the firm and guide thought leadership in the area

  • Agree short and medium term KPI's for the firm including but not limited to:

  • Diversity

  • Environmental objectives

  • Client acceptance policy

  • CSR activity

  • Influence and educate internally, ensuring the board are committing to objectives that position Clearwater as leaders in the ESG and sustainability

  • Spokesperson for the firm on all things ESG, Sustainability & Impact

Key requirements:

  • Demonstrable track record of success as an ESG deal originator with strong attention to detail around process and delivery

  • A deep understanding of the ESG Impact from a deal origination and internal corporate perspective. There is a preference for subject matter expert with experience in sustainability reporting framework, to monitor and analysis data

  • Strong relationship buildingand multiple stakeholder management skills and will be comfortable operating at all levels of the organisation

  • A proven and demonstrable track record of winning and completing significant and competitive sell and buy side mandates in M&A, private equity or another similar deal origination setting in financial services

  • Diverse network of high-level contacts across ESG and is seen as one of the go-to practitioners in the market

  • Prior experience of working in an international environment. There is a strong preference for an individual who has operated in or has a good understanding of how a large professional services organisation operates

  • A proven track record in building, motivating and empowering close-knit teams

  • Excellent communication skills with the authority and credibility to gain respect both internally and externally with people at all levels

  • High intellect, be a self-starter, have significant drive and energy and excellent communication skills

  • A strong academic record to degree level supported by an MBA/ACA qualification gained in a high-quality professional services organisation or blue-chip corporate
