Acre has partnered with a leading global market Lloyd's (Re)insurer to identify a Head of Sustainability to join them on a one-year mat leave cover assignment.

Our client offers a breadth of world-class insurance and reinsurance services to brokers and insurers in all major markets. With offices worldwide, they are committed to being a responsible global organisation with a focus on environmental sustainability by supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.

With a growing emphasis on ESG globally, the business is prioritising integrating sustainability across all aspects of the business, with a specific emphasis on underwriting. In 2023, the business will refresh its 2050 commitments to align with a more progressive target. To support this, they will adapt to and implement the PCAF framework for reporting and disclosures.

Alongside these key initiatives, the sustainability team will also focus on diversity and inclusion, as well as CSR programmes across charitable giving and partnerships.

As the Head of Sustainability, you will report directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and manage a team of four ESG specialists. You will lead senior leadership engagements across the organisation, attend global conferences, as well as drive the development and implementation of the sustainability strategy and narrative globally.

The ideal candidate will have successfully led and developed a sustainability strategy with a proven track record of engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, preferably coming from an insurer or a financial services company.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for continuing the development of the sustainability strategy and driving the execution of this framework across the organisation globally

  • Leading operational work of the department to ensure sustainability implementations are strategic, business-aligned, and make an impact

  • Developing a set of guiding principles which will set out the strategic ambition through conversations with senior stakeholders

  • Building strong relationships internally with underwriters, finance, claims and externally with brokers, customers

  • Drive continues improvements with reporting standards such as GRI, PCAF, TCFD, and GHG protocols

Experience:

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing sustainability strategy, ideally with a global scope

  • Senior stakeholder engagement with experience in driving a culture change within an organisation

  • Experienced sustainability strategist in a similar organisation within financial services
