Join Cadogan as Head of Sustainability and lead the path to a greener future.

Cadogan is a family business which owns and manages an extraordinary £5 billion property portfolio comprising mainly retail, residential and office assets in Chelsea and Knightsbridge. The business has a long heritage which provides a remarkable foundation upon which to base a contemporary, forward-looking and dynamic business able to anticipate and respond swiftly to the changing needs of its customers and markets.

Cadogan's long association with Chelsea began when Charles, Baron Cadogan, wed Elizabeth Sloane in 1717, some 300 years ago. Since that time, the family and place have grown together - today, the Cadogan Estate is one of London's most characterful and distinctive neighbourhoods.

Stewardship and community are central to their approach. Their long-term commitment comes with a responsibility to ensure that they are making a positive contribution towards a sustainable environment, protecting the area's unique heritage and supporting a thriving community. Stewardship means "the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care". To this, they can add "in perpetuity". Cadogan takes a long-term view; they intend that their stewardship maintains for the next 300 years and beyond.

In December 2020, the Board signed off on an exciting and ambitious sustainability strategy, "Chelsea 2030". This vision for the future sets out 12 stretching targets, covering carbon emissions, water, waste, green infrastructure, air quality and community. The Head of Sustainability leads this strategy, working across all teams, suppliers, occupiers and other stakeholders to embed its implementation and report on outcomes.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of sustainable real estate across Chelsea and Knightsbridge.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting and leading Cadogan's stewardship strategy, positioning them as a leader in environmental action and social impact and delivering internal quarterly reports to the Board across all sustainability metrics.

  • Identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement across the business, collaborating with department leads and colleagues to find practical and cutting-edge solutions.

  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive strategy delivery plan, including budgets, milestones, timelines, and risk registers.

  • Driving the implementation of sustainability targets, working closely with key departments and establishing standards, systems, and procedures to improve performance.

  • Acting as Cadogan's industry voice on sustainability, contributing to thought leadership and industry initiatives through relevant networks.

  • Engaging tenants and suppliers, fostering strong relationships with partner organisations, and effectively managing communication with key stakeholders.

Cadogan is looking for an inspiring individual who is not only a thought leader but who can deliver tangible outputs through highly effective project and people management. You must be able to drive change by collaborating with all departments to deliver positive results and impactful outcomes.

Candidates will also:

  • Have an in-depth understanding of urban regeneration challenges and opportunities, encompassing environmental, transport, community, heritage & culture.

  • Have proven expertise in collaborating across teams and organisations, with an extensive network of London local government, sustainability, community, and other key stakeholders.

  • A solid grasp of relevant funding bodies, mechanisms, and timelines to identify well-aligned third-party funding opportunities.

  • Exceptional project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.

  • A deep passion and drive to make a meaningful difference in the environment and shape a sustainable future for all.

  • Demonstrable business experience in a corporate role, ideally within the built environment.

  • An Energy/Sustainability/Building Services/Engineering related degree would be advantageous.
