The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is a collaborative, global, multi-stakeholder non-profit alliance for the fashion industry. It is made up of over 208+ leading apparel, footwear, and textile brands, retailers, suppliers, service providers, trade associations, non-profits, NGOs, and academic institutions working to reduce environmental impact and promote social justice throughout the global value chain.
SAC's vision is of a global consumer goods industry that gives more than it takes - to the planet and its people. Now in a phase of growth and tackling crucial topics, SAC is seeking a Senior Director of Membership to join their ranks on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
As the Senior Director of Membership, you will be reporting directly to the Executive Vice President and developing, implementing, and leading an organisation-wide member engagement strategy through close collaboration with other departments. You will be focused on engagement processes and governance, solution-based feedback, a decision-making hierarchy and member engagement taxonomy so that opportunities are appropriately addressed by the right people in a fair, transparent, and timely manner.
You will also be responsible for:
Designing, developing and executing world-class membership solutions focused on supporting the SAC's strategic plan, including growth and impact member satisfaction
Deliver targeted membership growth, continually building the global reach and influence of the SAC
Maintain a leading working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the textile industry value chain and related fields
Create and implement a strategy based on the use of the Higg index, and programs and the development and implementation of innovating solutions to drive sustainable impact by SAC members
Build a transparent environment that supports constructive criticism and continuous improvement
Provide inspirational leadership to the membership & corporate engagement teams, implementing a commitment to their continuous education and growth while increasing their overall competencies to support delivery of the SAC Vision
Actively collaborate across departments to ensure the team is collectively working towards organisational goals within scheduled timelines, operationalising matrix ways of working, recognising and addressing the issues and opportunities in all areas.
Specifically oversee membership and corporate engagement teams' collaboration and coordination with key internal stakeholders, including stakeholder engagement, collective action, public affairs, Higg index, marketing and communications, to ensure clear strategic alignment
Work with the Executive Vice President and Operations team to prepare and execute a board-approved budget, future revenue and expense planning
Plan and deliver effective growth and diversification of revenue streams, product offering and market
The ideal candidate has:
10+ years of significant accomplishments in membership, & business development
5+ years working at a senior (ideally director) level or above
A relevant and applicable postgraduate qualification would be an advantage
Has continually developed and successfully implemented well-defined business strategies
Proven ability to develop high-impact membership programs
Good knowledge of sustainability issues in the fashion industry or other related industries and the ability to facilitate this knowledge into well-articulated arguments
Experience in managing a globally dispersed team
Experience working collaboratively as part of a global, multicultural organisation, always treating others with respect and care
