Starbucks is the premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world, and they want to become known sustainability leaders too. With ambitious commitments, including halving their global waste, water, and carbon footprint by 2030, Starbucks EMEA is now seeking an ambitious leader to drive their strategy forward to achieving these goals and ensure that they are the sustainable choice for coffee enthusiasts around the world.

In this newly created role reporting to the Director of Sustainability and Social Impact, you will be shepherding the business and its wide range of partners through the ESG landscape and deliver Starbucks to achieving a sustainable future.

You will also be:

  • Working closely with a new regional subcommittee of cross-functional ESG leaders, coordinating workstreams across the EMEA region. Through active alliance and streamlining of projects and regions, you will improve efficiency and continue to position Starbucks as the leader in this space.

  • Implementing environmental and social programmes to completion through setting targets and KPIs and monitoring progress, representing the EMEA region at the corporate level, and through regular engagement internally and externally about the work underway.

  • Leading on organisational response to emerging regulations. These may include forest-risk commodities, auditing of green claims, human/ethical rights, and waste and plastic legislation. Through actively keeping up with evolving policies or changes, you use your expert knowledge to help better improve the ESG programme further.

In this role, you will be operating across the full breadth and depth of sustainability strategy in EMEA, and it will require you to be both agile and collaborative. Starbucks is the premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world- so there is a lot to achieve and deliver. This will suit you if you have strong technical experience, with the ability to apply this in a large multi-national setting.

You will also benefit from having the following:

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and respond resourcefully to new demands and challenges within a rapidly changing business landscape. You have passion and desire to make sustainability and social impact integral to how Starbucks does business.

  • Relevant exposure to delivering ESG programmes at scale across geographies, levels, and on different themes. You know how to not only understand sustainability but how to implement it and to engage people about it.

  • The energy to engage people internally and externally about Starbucks' ESG journey and how to break down complexities to digestible information for other teams and a wide range of stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity to be at the heart of a business used by so many and to create a significant and wide-reaching impact. Apply today if you have passion and the relevant skillset, or reach out to Ruth Smith at ruth.smith@acre.com with any questions you'd like answered first.
