Are you interested in supporting the shift to low-carbon transportation in the UK? Do you enjoy developing and delivering strategic plans to achieve measurable impacts?

Eversholt Rail is a leading owner and lessor of UK rail rolling stock, with a portfolio of over 2,800 passenger and freight vehicles. Eversholt has invested more than £3bn in new trains since the privatisation of the UK's rail industry, leasing rolling stock to eight passenger train operators and two freight operators within the UK.

With over 30 years of industry experience, Eversholt is committed to supporting a modal shift to rail. The business is ideally placed to support customers and suppliers as they transition to a low-carbon, sustainable transport model.

In this role, you'll be leading Eversholt's sustainability & ESG function, working with all levels of the organisation, from C-suite to engineers, to embed sustainable best practices into business operations.

You'll also be:

  • Identifying new and emerging sustainability risk and opportunities, and supporting the business in developing mitigation strategies to enhance resilience and long-term sustainability

  • Leading the business in implementing sustainability strategy, ensuring ongoing alignment with stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements

  • Streamlining the collection of non-financial data, ultimately using data analysis tools to identify trends, track performance and inform decision-making

  • Exploring opportunities to establish metrics and targets around the roadmap to net zero, and value chain emissions accounting

  • Enhancing ESG reporting and disclosures, and driving awareness with staff on how these relate to business operations

To succeed, you'll need:

  • A proven track record of sustainability & ESG strategy management and programme implementation across topics such as reporting, carbon management, GHG reduction and working in accordance with frameworks such as TCFD and SASB

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and engage internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • Commercial acumen, with a focus on driving value through sustainability & ESG initiatives

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, such as transport, infrastructure, utilities or energy

  • Experience working with investors

  • Knowledge of the UK rail sector is advantageous but not essential
