About This Role

In light of achieving their goal of providing a better and more sustainable future, the general purpose of this position is to drive the implementation and coordinate the transformation of Grünenthal's packaging to support the delivery of the global sustainability target.


This role will be placed within Grünenthal's Global Operations unit.


Your Responsibilities


Strategic Responsibilities

  • Central packaging expert within Grünenthal's Global Operations (or Manufacturing Science) unit with a strong focus on optimisation of packaging

  • Leading prioritised projects to drive progress on our sustainability ambitions and goals across our global operations and businesses including providing direction to minimise waste generation and increase the recyclability of packaging materials

  • Exploring opportunities to deliver cost and material usage value engineering solutions

  • Create synergy and support the global sustainability Planet strategy within the business

  • Operational Responsibilities

  • Realising quick wins related to switching recycled material in secondary and tertiary packaging and steering coordination across sites

  • Evaluate and test new sustainable and optimised packaging by ensuring pharmaceutical compliance

  • Creation and analysis of a global packaging matrix for global manufacturing sites and multiple products

  • Provide recommendations and technical expertise on regulatory compliance and support global product change projects

  • Expand Grünenthal's sustainability awareness by systematic analysis of packaging and devices from externally sourced products to ensure Grünenthal is implementing sustainable packaging solutions.


Who are you?


You are a results-driven, independent, and innovative individual that also thrives on working in a team environment with a structured and analytical way of thinking. You are service-oriented, understanding and respond to the needs of customers and the market, and enjoys working in an interdisciplinary team.

  • Degree in pharmaceutical science, packaging engineering, material sciences or sustainable packaging background, or developed relevant experience

  • Exposure to the pharma industry, specifically in the packaging sector

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate through and work in a matrix organisation

  • Professional certification in environmental sustainability desired

  • English language fluency

  • Track record in managing multiple conflicting priorities and projects

  • Willingness to travel when required.
