Acre is thrilled to partner with a leading global investment manager in hiring a Principal of Sustainability to join the firm's Sustainable Investing team.

This is an exciting period of transformative change and growth as the team delivers sustainability objectives across its portfolio. You will deliver key facets of sustainability integration and stewardship, including leading research & analysis into sustainability-related regulation & policy; shaping the firm's approach and worldview on key sustainability topics; managing external stakeholder relationships including coalitions, clients, and partners; as well as working with stakeholders to oversee portfolio-level initiatives on climate such as carbon footprinting, net zero taxonomy, and Net-Zero commitments.

As a sustainability leader and subject matter expert, you will be responsible for the following:

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Optimize the firm's approach to external engagement and participation in coalitions; engage with external stakeholders to share best practices and collaborate on sustainability-related initiatives.

  • Contribute to thought leadership and communication on sustainability insights and worldview to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Shape sustainability content for effective client dialogue, building and maintaining a cohesive vision of sustainability between the firm and clients.

Climate Change

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement, and/or deploy frameworks, metrics, data, and tools to measure Net-Zero alignment and climate risk.

  • Work with the SI team to provide advice and support to asset classes in identifying opportunities and innovative solutions across clean energy transition, biodiversity, and other relevant, sustainable investing topics.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders by convening investment teams and other relevant departments to foster collaboration and alignment on climate commitments and targets.

Policy

  • Stay abreast of global trends and developments in sustainability policies, disclosure standards, key ESG topics, and sustainable finance.

  • Distill key developments and proactively shape the firm's approach to ensure the firm is positioned effectively for credibility and leadership.

  • Advance the firm's disclosure and reporting strategy; recommend fit-for-purpose governance, controls, metrics, and processes to enable transparency in line with standards.

You will bring:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional work experience in sustainability, policy, law, finance, investment management, and/or other relevant areas.

  • Postgraduate degree in Business, Finance, Law, Economics, or fields such as engineering, climate science, environmental science, or other relevant disciplines preferred. The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation would be an asset.

  • Comprehensive understanding of asset management and financial markets, with the ability to demonstrate the relevance of Climate/ESG issues in investment analysis and corporate engagement.

  • Strong knowledge of sustainable investing principles, ESG integration practices, as well as relevant emissions frameworks (e.g., PCAF) and industry standards (e.g., TCFD, TNFD, PRI, ISSB);

  • Familiarity with emerging trends, technologies, and policy developments in the energy transition and climate change space.

  • The ability to grasp and translate technical concepts into insights, to think independently, and to design and drive the organization's initiatives on key sustainability topics.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence and forge relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to drive change and foster a culture of sustainability within the organization.

  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills with sound business judgment.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate with a broad stakeholder group.
