The role: Sustainable Value Chain Specialist

Midocean's purpose is to enable companies to create brand awareness, by delivering the perfect personalized gift. As Sustainability Specialist, you will be at the heart of integrating sustainable practices across all levels of the organization, aligning business objectives with the broader goals of sustainable development. What will you be doing in this role?

  • Ensure the sustainable procurement of all goods, reduce mid-ocean supply chain environmental footprint, empower customers with transparent product information, and align the business with sustainability regulatory frameworks such as CSRD, ERP, and DPP.

  • Manage the path to value chain transparency and traceability in line with the applicable requirements of the Digital Product Passports (DPP).

  • Set up and perform Life Cycle Assessments for mid-ocean assortments to enable transparency for customers (part of DPP) and to obtain a more accurate GHG report at the company level.

  • Establish value chain product certification for recycled or organic materials, such as GRS, FSC, GOTS, and OEKOTEX.

  • Lead the collection and sharing of product data illustrating sustainability, environmental, and recyclability attributes (DPP).

  • Assess, monitor, and guide the social and environmental compliance auditing of factories.

  • Conduct regular supply chain risk assessments, surveying suppliers on their environmental and social practices (amfori BSCI/Bepi, SEDEX Smeta 4Pillar).

  • Rate suppliers based on their social and sustainability practices and monitor improvement areas with relevant responsible teams.

  • Monitor progress of tasks and actively contribute to reports for CSRD.


Who are you, and what do you bring?

  • Experience leading and implementing sustainability strategies within the supply chain and procurement functions of an international B2B corporate environment.

  • Subject matter expertise in different sustainability standards, certifications, and knowledge of current and upcoming regulations (E.g., GRI, BCorp, SBTI, CSRD, DPP, ERP).

  • Track record in performing Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for products and services, identifying key areas for environmental impact reduction.

  • A keen interest in the promotional items space and its value chain, coupled with the ambition to drive ESG transformation.

  • Proficiency in English is crucial for success in this role.

  • Based in Ede (Netherlands) or open to commute.
