Acre has been retained by a global, non-profit leader in reforestation & conservation projects. Our client has successfully planted hundreds of millions of trees in nearly 100 countries and is committed to a mission of planting one billion or more - preserving habitat for wildlife, sequestering millions of tons of CO2 from the atmosphere and kickstarting local economies around the world.

The Chief Programs Officer has the overall responsibility for the successful execution and certification of their restoration projects globally. The successful candidate will manage an experienced team of direct and indirect reports, plus relationships with external partners. Reporting directly to the CEO as a management team member, this person will have a significant impact on the overall strategy and direction of the organization. Your work will translate the company's ambitions into a strategy to organize their projects, and you will take a leading role in setting a strategic outlook and roadmap.

Key Success Criteria

  • 10-15+ years of experience in (preferably international) operational management, including management of large teams and direct P&L responsibility. Ideally, a good chunk of this experience will have been in Forestry.

  • Ideally, the candidate will hold an advanced level qualification with a focus on sustainability/ecology/forestry or similar field.

  • You will be a proven people leader with the ability to manage and develop senior leaders in the company, as well as more junior staff. This will include travel to our different locations and mentoring team members, including those who are not direct reports.

  • Ideally, you will have experience in scale-up or rapid growth phases within a company.

  • Strong, demonstrable passion for sustainability-focused work.

This globally focused, executive leadership role is a rare opportunity to be able to make positive impact at real meaningful scale. Our client has experienced rapid growth over the last few years and the company is filled with passionate, mission driven individuals.
