Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead regional engagement team delivery and input to the development of the engagement plan and programme through oversight of input of team members and personal delivery of agreed initiatives, including regional corporate governance principles and voting policies.

  • Define individual performance objectives and KPIs, consistent with wider team engagement objectives and KPIs, aligned to the implementation of the Firm's engagement plan.

  • Manage team members against their agreed performance objectives.

  • Lead the development and delivery of the engagement strategy across a large country or region, as well as globally across relevant environmental, social and governance themes.

  • Lead corporate engagement through the development of regular dialogue and meetings at a board and executive committee level and with senior managers at allocated companies on all relevant corporate governance, long-term strategy and environmental and social risks, in line with agreed KPIs.

  • Oversee delivery by a regional team of work with investment teams and support staff to contribute to the integration of sustainability issues and engagement insights into the investment process.

  • Lead or oversee other team members' development and maintenance of voting policies and proxy voting guidelines for regional markets.

Key Requirements:

  • Leadership skills, including the ability to translate high-level team objectives into personal objectives, contributing to the strategic development of priorities for focus and implementation of change-management of processes.

  • The application of sustainability and corporate governance, business strategy, risk and communication issues applied to companies, across a range of relevant sectors and with experience of their application in the region (Asia and/or relevant emerging markets).

  • Good time management, personal discipline, and the ability to manage and successfully prioritise multiple issues, including own engagement priorities as well as team management.
