Stagecoach is part of the fabric of daily life in the UK and has served communities across the UK for more than 40 years. Today, around 2.5 million people travel on Stagecoach's buses on a network stretching from south-West England all the way to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

In this newly created role, as the Environment Manager, you will be overseeing the environmental management of this network and delivering against core key Net-Zero objectives.

You will also be:

  • Reporting directly to and working closely with the Group Head of Sustainability. You will be instrumental in the shaping and implementation of environmental strategy, including the design, delivery and maintenance of ISO14001 and projects that support continuous improvement and environmental reporting.

  • Keeping a close eye on emerging trends and bringing in your expert opinion to help improve Stagecoach further on environmental themes. Through doing this, you continue the positioning of the organisation as a transport sector leader for both sustainability and environmental management.

  • Being the 'go-to' person across geographies for technical advice and environmental management expertise. This could be from focusing on biodiversity one day to reporting on depot carbon and environmental performance the next day.

Stagecoach's strategy to improve sustainability is 'Driving Net-Zero: Better places to Live and Work'. Through making a positive impact on planet, people, communities and wellbeing, Stagecoach are committed to being recognised as leaders in sustainability.

To thrive in an ambitious team as part of this, you will benefit from having the following already:

  • A track record in environmental management, with a strong working knowledge of ISO14001:2015, as well as other relevant systems and frameworks.

  • A solutions-oriented mindset. You embrace a challenge, and you have problem-solving skills which you use on a range of projects.

  • Relevant experience of working with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You enjoy building relationships, communicating about your work, and engaging others effectively.

This is an excellent role to be at the heart of a business used by so many, and to create significant and widespread impact.
