Established in 2002, Bregal is a private equity investment firm with €12 billion of assets under management. Bregal has over 200 employees across offices in London, New York, Munich, Milan, Jersey, Luxembourg and Dallas.

Bregal Investments is seeking to hire a Sustainability & Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Associate/Senior Associate. The role will be full-time and based out of the London office.

The Role

Bregal's business-focused ESG programme, structure of the Bregal private equity platform, and client commitment to ESG, offers an opportunity to have a positive impact and realise concrete ESG improvements across a variety of businesses and industries.

This role will work actively across Bregal's ESG programmes, with a particular focus on Bregal's fund-of-funds team. The role will provide an exciting opportunity to drive ESG objectives through active engagement with the team and the portfolio of fund investments. Responsibilities:

  • Advise on key ESG issues and risks during the due diligence phase of new investment opportunities, including providing ESG assessments for all new investments.

  • Close engagement with investment teams and general partners to ensure ESG implementation and value creation throughout the lifetime of the investment.

  • Conducting regular ESG reviews and engagement with general partners.

Desired Experience:

Whilst experience covering all of the below is not expected as a pre-requisite, demonstrable expertise in any or multiple of these areas is desired.

  • Deep understanding of the Private Equity industry, including PE equity investment/portfolio company management knowledge and experience, especially on the indirect investment side.

  • Experience in managing and executing operational ESG projects from an internal or consulting perspective.

  • Understanding of key ESG metrics including an ability to analyse and interpret trends and insights.

  • Sustainability reporting, ESG due diligence and developing measurement frameworks.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your sustainability and ESG career in a leading private equity firm with an ambitious and progressive ESG programme that rewards entrepreneurship alongside integrity. Apply directly today, or contact Hector Lobb at hector.lobb@acre.com for more information.
