Control Risks is a specialist risk consultancy that helps to create secure, compliant and resilient organisations in an age of ever-changing risk. As a business experiencing exponential growth, Control Risks are seeking a Director to lead their ESG Due Diligence team in London.

This leadership position sits within the Business Intelligence team, which focuses on helping clients identify and assess ESG risks in line with leading frameworks and standards. This role will require close collaboration with other specialist areas within the business, such as transaction advisory, social compliance, climate risk consultant and political risk analysis consulting.

The candidate will have experience and expertise in ESG, and sustainability-focused diligence, reporting, and disclosures, either in-house at a private market-focused investor or in a corporate organisation or working as an ESG-focused consultant with significant experience in managing clients. The candidate will demonstrate a strong and long-standing knowledge of specific areas of ESG (such as human rights or environmental considerations) and responsible investment trends and will be able to help their private equity and corporate clients make decisions about their investments and relationships.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Experience in a relevant ESG or sustainability-focused role, either at a consultancy or in-house at a private markets investment firm or corporate

  • A well-developed understanding of ESG/sustainability/responsible investment trends and the emerging regulatory environment, particularly experience with specific social and environmental factors of relevance to private equity and corporate clients in the UK and Europe

  • Professional experience conducting due diligence in line with relevant standards and frameworks, such as SASB, GRI, UN Global Compact and other standards, including the IFC Performance Standards, PRI and TCFD

  • Strong client management skills with a demonstrated track record of developing client relationships

  • Demonstrated experience of working successfully within cross-discipline and geographically dispersed teams
