apiday - enabling people to build sustainable organisations

apiday is an innovative and rapidly growing scale-up designed with one goal in mind: to help companies build sustainability in the easiest way possible. apiday's mission is to allow ESG and sustainability managers to spend less time in spreadsheets and more time on creating and unlocking positive environmental and social change.

With state-of-the-art software solutions that are tailored to the needs of their client, they're a European market leader in ESG-data solutions, focusing on investment firms and large corporates.

Head of ESG

As the linchpin between the needs of the sustainability market, the rapidly evolving sustainability regulatory landscape and apiday's own product, the Head of ESG has a pivotal role in the organization. You'll lead a quickly growing team (now 3FTE, and quickly growing). You'll be responsible for ensuring that Apiday's product stays ahead of the market and that there is a solid ESG strategy for the coming years. Additionally, you'll have an important voice in apiday's general strategy and growth.

As Head of ESG, your most important responsibilities are:

ESG Advisory

  • Develop apiday's in-house expertise and methodologies on ESG and sustainability issues.

  • Participate in the structuring of apiday's advisory offer beyond the software product by identifying missing expertise to build a more robust value proposition for current and prospective clients.

  • Develop strategies and contribute to the creation of the various ESG contents displayed in apiday software products.

  • Assist high-value customers by providing direct ESG assistance and consultancy services on technical matters that are beyond the expertise of the other ESG teammates.

ESG Product Strategy

  • Participate in frequent meetings to discuss the broader firm's product strategy as the ultimate owner of apiday's technical expertise on all ESG and sustainability matters.

  • Analyze, in collaboration with the founders, the Product team and the Data team, customer feedback and market developments to identify new ways to improve the apiday platform, enabling progress on the product roadmap.

  • Contribute to the improvement of apiday's internal ESG metrics database by analyzing the most popular ESG and sustainability frameworks.

  • Contribute to various cross-functional initiatives such as ESG content review, and internal and external ESG training.

Partnerships & Visibility

  • Identify new partnership opportunities with other players from the sustainability industry.

  • Be the public face of apiday's technical ESG expertise by appearing in apiday newsletters, on the website, going to conferences/panels, etc.

Management & Communication

  • Have regular sit-downs with the ESG Manager to track the progress of work carried out by ESG team members, including key tasks such as extracting ESG data from customer documents or creating ESG content for our products.

  • Supervise and mentor junior ESG team members, organize the ESG team routines and workflows.

  • Implement, in collaboration with the ESG Manager, a development and improvement strategy for junior ESG team members.

  • Identify any recruitment needs for the ESG team and collaborate with the founding team to implement an efficient hiring strategy.

The ideal candidate is/has

  • At least eight years of work experience, with a significant amount of time spent in fast-paced ESG or sustainability consulting roles.

  • Strong working knowledge of the latest developments in EU sustainability frameworks and regulations.

  • Experience in non-financial (sustainability/ESG) reporting and familiarity with the relevant non-financial reporting standards.

  • A flexible and self-starting mindset - Apiday is a rapidly growing scale-up, and this is a role where you will be combining operational and strategic tasks and will need to drive your own performance.

  • A keen interest and aptitude for technology and software.

  • Ideally, you have an active network in sustainability and can drive Apiday's presence in the broader international sustainability field.

  • The role is based in Paris - but for candidates that can come to the office for two days a week, hybrid options are possible.
