With BA Better World, British Airways is putting sustainability at the heart of its business.
In a brand-new role within British Airways, you will be tasked with orchestrating the net-zero and environmental elements of the Better World sustainability programme, taking ownership of key issues including climate, noise, resources and reporting.
You will be responsible for:
Crafting and implementing a refreshed net-zero and environment strategy, helping to deliver sustainable transformation plans for the next decade and beyond
Guiding the organisation towards zero emissions by driving innovation and investment in sustainable aviation fuels, low carbon aircraft, carbon capture technology and nature-based solutions
Establishing transformational resource goals on waste and adopting circular economy principles
Engaging teams across the organisation to make sure the net-zero and environment strategy is embedded into broader business decisions and planning
Managing a team of 5 environment and sustainability professionals, each specialising in delivering an element of the net-zero and environment strategy with opportunities to grow further
To succeed, you will need:
A highly collaborative, innovative and action-oriented approach and the ability to influence and engage at a senior level to embed lasting structural and behavioural change
A degree-level qualification in Environmental Management or a related subject
Previous leadership experience in a corporate environment or similar role with a track record of having delivered sector-leading change programmes
Significant expertise in climate change management and mitigation, including climate modelling and assessment of climate-related risks and opportunities
Experience in policy development and influencing at a national and international level
Practical knowledge of TCFD, materiality, environmental management systems, waste and compliance
