Are you an investment specialist passionate about the energy transition and looking for the opportunity to join a well-established and purpose-leading private equity investor?

Our client, with assets under management (AuM) exceeding €5 billion and a successful track record of over 20 years, is a leading private equity firm dedicated to energy transition and innovation.

This role will be a part of the Renewable Energy team, which has a remarkable 15-year record of accomplishment in creating strategic partnerships with European renewable energy developers and supporting them to become prominent independent power producers (IPPs). The team is currently raising its fifth-generation fund with a target size of €1.5bn of which about €1bn have already been secured in only six months. The fund has a European mandate, and the international team has a track record of sourcing and executing investments in over 15 European countries since inception.

As an associate, you will play a crucial role in the analysis and execution of investment opportunities, as well as in the management of portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and due diligence to identify potential investment opportunities.

  • Perform financial modelling, valuation, and risk analysis to assess the feasibility and profitability of potential investments.

  • Collaborate with senior team members in structuring deals and preparing investment memos for presentation to the investment committee.

  • Conduct thorough due diligence on target companies, including analysing financial statements, legal documentation, and impact assessments.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments in the renewable energy sector to inform investment strategies.

  • Monitor and manage existing investments, analyse performance, and identify opportunities for value creation.

  • Prepare regular reports and updates on investment performance for internal stakeholders and investors.

  • Mentor and operationally manage analyst-level team members.

Key Requirements:

  • Master's university degree in finance, economics, engineering or a related field.

  • About four years of experience in investment banking, private equity, transaction services, advisory/consulting or renewable energy/infrastructure project finance.

  • Solid understanding of the renewable energy industry, including different technologies (solar, wind, hydro, etc.), regulatory environment, and market dynamics.

  • Strong financial modelling skills and proficiency in financial analysis, valuation, and investment appraisal.

  • Experience in working with and coordinating legal, technical and financial advisors during the due diligence phase of a transaction.

  • Ability to critically analyse data, draw meaningful insights, and make informed investment decisions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in an international and fast-paced team environment.

  • Demonstrated track record of achieving results and meeting deadlines.

  • Fluent in oral and written English. Another language is a plus.
