As Senior Manager of Government Affairs, your responsibility is to work with the Regulatory and Sustainability leadership globally in developing and executing strategic plans to advance and advocate for Edgewell's global interests related to sustainability, climate/carbon, plastics, EPR and the circular economy.
You will establish and maintain constructive working relationships with industry associations and regulatory agencies, advocating company positions on important legislative, regulatory and policy issues focusing on plastics and packaging.
You will need a strong understanding of lead regulatory analysis, risk assessments and issue recommendations to the business.
Develop and iterate on content policies to ensure regulatory preparedness and mitigate business and reputational risk.
Assume primary responsibility for global legislative and regulatory issues of importance to Edgewell related to climate, environmental sustainability and circular economy advocacy.
Support the Regulatory team in building and maintaining relationships with governmental institutions and affiliated parties.
Knowledge of current and emerging sustainability reporting metrics and public policy trends relating to non-financial reporting, plastics, climate, carbon taxes, EPR and circular economy.
Research and monitor government activities that could affect the company's business, customers and marketing to consumers.
Assists leadership with risk analysis and strategic planning for known and potential policy activities related to the business and industry.
Serve as Edgewell's primary liaison with trade associations. Actively participate on their government relations and sustainability committees, helping to shape and lobby policy positions.
Develop and execute advocacy plans for these issues, incorporating direct lobbying, coordinating with trade associations and employee grassroots campaigns.
Assist in development of ongoing issue advocacy prioritization.
Establish a network of Edgewell internal stakeholders, communicating regularly to ensure government relations alignment with company and sustainability objectives.
Identify, track, and internally communicate legislative, regulatory developments and emerging trends.
Work with internal stakeholders to define potential impacts and develop company position papers and advocacy strategies.
Interface with government and certification bodies to represent and protect the company's business plans and interests.
Support sustainability certifications and policies from certification bodies that impact the company.
Monitor and manage current and emerging policy and legislation related to EPR, plastic and carbon tax impacts.
Cross functionally partners with internal teams to identify and manage strategic opportunities with government and certification bodies.
Author internal regulatory guidelines, work instructions and standard operating procedures. Co-author company policies, position papers and PR toolkits. Communicate with government officials in representation of the company. Assure all reporting systems and documentation comply with applicable regulatory standards and requirements for Edgewell's portfolio of products.
Relationships with EU institutions is an advantage, such as European Commission, EU Member State Authorities and/or the European Parliament.
Strong working knowledge of global legislative and committee processes (EU and US).
Existing relationships within key US regulatory agencies such as the EPA, DOT and OSHA, Congressional offices and key committees preferred.
Experience with and strong understanding of sustainability best practices.
Strong preference for knowledge, skills, and abilities related to carbon, environmental product stewardship, recycling, biomaterials, composting, and plastics policies.
Experience with product certification process for new materials.
Knowledge and experience on North America and International regulatory standards, applicable laws and regulations to the OTC drugs and Cosmetic products categories, as well as of cGMP standards.
