Acre is working with an advisory consultancy that supports institutions around the world as they accelerate their transition to sustainability, circularity, and social equality, and face the twin challenges of decarbonisation and halting the degradation of nature. They help their clients to operate successfully in the context of rapidly shifting policy and regulatory frameworks, and customer and campaigning pressure.
This organisation is searching for a Country Lead, Malaysia to lead key areas of business development, building new and existing client relationships and negotiating project initiatives. You will be working closely with its team to develop, articulate and deliver client contracts on sustainability strategies. You will be working closely with its team members in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia, especially with the APAC Director and APAC Managing Consultant. You will be in charge of new client delivery and project management: ensuring timely, robust and high-quality advisory for clients utilising the resources available to you.
Your work will include attending business networking events, managing the organisation's membership in various industry associations, chamber of commerce and others. You will manage strategic stakeholder management and build/manage its relationship to business, government and civil society. The organisation works extensively with private companies, the public sector, and other organisations across the region. The industries it works in, in this region, include forestry, agriculture (including palm oil), mining, aviation, and retail. Globally, it also works with entertainment, fashion, finance, and many more.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead priority areas of relationships with key clients, delivering excellence in project outcomes and building trusted partnerships that realise extended opportunities
Proactively contribute to the development and growth of the organisation's sustainability strategies consulting offering in Asia, identifying and pursuing business
Build network with key stakeholders, especially within business networks which can lead to business opportunities
Forge strong relationships with key subject-matter experts within the organisation and externally and leverage their knowledge to deliver better client outcomes
Work with project teams on client assignments, business development and build resource capability to support business growth
Work closely with the Global Managing Director, the Director of APAC, Managing Consultant, Partners, and finance team to ensure all assignments meet their commercial metrics and manage budget decisions that relate to successful project outcomes
Identify, lead and design marketing opportunities that extend the brand reputation in the Malaysia market working together with the Managing Director of APAC
As someone who has worked with cross-sector clients and been at the forefront of delivering positive change within organisations, you will have a strong track record of business development and delivering against set targets (number of clients). The right candidate should have experience managing complex assignments and issues associated with sustainability transition drivers within markets and industries.
Key Requirements:
Experience in consultancy and business development related to strategic industries
Experience in working on commodities in the region; for example: palm oil, coconut, mining, forestry, pulp, and paper
Track record in generating new business and an entrepreneurial mindset, showcasing an ability to build a market, leveraging an existing network
Experience in working in Malaysia and strong understanding the business culture and environment
Able to speak other Asian languages is a plus
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking
Confident consulting skills, including workshop leadership, and co-creation initiatives with an entrepreneurial spirit
Familiarity with the deployment and analysis of qual/quant research, and data-based evidence to support project recommendations
Effective team leadership and mentoring
Excellent communication and presentation skills that underpin your place as a brand ambassador
The ability to multi-task across different client assignments and business
A specific and developed capability in the delivery of sustainability-related tools that support client needs
In-depth knowledge of an industry sector that has the potential to enhance their service
