Acre is delighted to be working with a UK-based non-profit focused on promoting the responsible development, use, and understanding of plastics. It supports education, industry collaboration, and public awareness around sustainability, innovation, and the role of plastics in a circular economy.
They are looking for a Recycling Specialist, who will be the specialist on all plastic recycling issues across all sectors (e.g. packaging, automotive and construction). This role provides extensive exposure to senior leaders across the plastics industry, deep insight into the workings of UK governmental institutions, collaboration with key external stakeholders, regular media engagement, and an international perspective through partnerships with European trade associations.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure an understanding of the key issues in the industry and how these affect the members. Formulating action plans on key projects in conjunction with the members to tackle these issues
- Become the in-house expert on trends within the plastics recycling sectors including innovations
- Co-ordinate the delivery of working groups, committees and meetings
- Ensure members gain the maximum benefit from their membership
- Preparation and analysis of surveys as directed by key stakeholders
- Account management and maintenance of contacts
- Assisting the membership team with new member enquiries and onboarding for new members
- Establish good working relationships with civil servants and key external stakeholders (e.g. sector Trade Associations) and represent the Group within government and external stakeholder meetings
Key Requirements
- At least 2 years’ industrial experience, preferably in the waste and recycling sectors
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and deliver initiatives to deadline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident in presenting technical and business issues to diverse audiences
- A relevant professional qualification in a technical or business discipline, combined with scientific literacy
- A collaborative team player with the interpersonal skills to influence at all levels, from industry leaders to government stakeholders
