Engineering Manager

Confidential Client

Acre has partnered with a rapidly growing decarbonization startup to find a world-class Engineering Manager to oversee the conceptual design lifecycle for projects that have world-scale impact. They’ve recently completed a 9-figure funding round and are actively pursuing projects across the North American clean fuels infrastructure and industrial decarbonization sectors.

Based in or near Connecticut and reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for

  • Leading early-stage conceptual design efforts across complex decarbonization technology domains (Methanol, Hydrogen, RNG, etc.). You’re the technical visionary to put ideas to paper.
  • Building out, expanding, and centralizing FEL 1 engineering efforts. There's some process in place, but you are our expert responsible for building rigorous standards.
  • Overseeing FEL study execution and cost estimates, leading teams developing FEL 1 deliverables, and leading negotiations and relationships with engineering partners
  • Identify and manage risks throughout the FEL lifecycle. This is a startup where the future can’t be certain, so having an understanding of when to take calculated and potentially aggressive risks is crucial.
  • Mentoring colleagues and helping them improve their understanding of conceptual design best practices.

To qualify, you will have

  • B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Chemical Engineering or similar with at least 10 years’ experience leading engineering teams (direct preferred, indirect lead acceptable) at an EPC, owner/operator, or developer.
  • Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of relevant domains; O&G, petrochemical, hydrogen production, hydrogen refueling, methanol, ammonia, biofuels, renewable natural gas (RNG)
  • Extensive experience in plant design (biogas preferred) and deep familiarity with running HAZOP and guaranteeing safety
  • Extreme depth in process engineering design, and recent experience managing/executing simulation (nice-to-have)
  • A passion for decarbonization, willingness to lead and learn, and excellent ability to work cross-functionally in an agile startup environment.

If you’re seeking an impact-driven position at a small company that comes with high ownership and great challenge, there’s no better place to be. Please apply below with a copy of your resume.
