Ethical and Sustainability Executive

Confidential Client

Are you looking to build your career in sustainability and ethical trade with a business that is recognised for quality and innovation? Acre is partnering with an independently owned, award-winning food manufacturer that supplies products to major UK retailers and foodservice customers, with a diverse international supply base across more than twenty countries, in their search for an Ethical and Sustainability Executive.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic sustainability professional to join a fast-paced and forward-thinking environment. Reporting to the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, you will help ensure that all products sourced, produced, and distributed meet robust ethical and sustainable standards, while supporting the ongoing development of a credible and measurable sustainability strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supply Chain & Partner Management – Monitor ethical and sustainable practices across the supply chain, support suppliers to implement best practices, and maintain relationships with key partners such as Sedex and BSCI. Build strong relationships with suppliers and customers and respond promptly to enquiries.
  • Policy, Compliance & Reporting – Contribute to the development of the Modern Slavery Statement, update the Ethical Trade Policy, and ensure all suppliers meet established standards. Track, analyse, and report on ethical and environmental performance.
  • Risk Assessment & Industry Awareness – Conduct risk assessments of primary and secondary suppliers to identify high-risk ethical and sustainability areas. Summarise research, attend industry events, and stay informed on sector developments.
  • Internal Communication & Representation – Communicate ethical policies internally and deliver relevant CSR training. Represent the organisation at external forums and conferences, and support presentations that demonstrate the company’s sustainability commitments.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 2.1 degree or above in a relevant field
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and IT skills
  • Highly motivated, organised, and project-focused with a proactive “can-do” attitude
  • Genuine interest in FMCG and the food industry, with an understanding of ethical auditing (Sedex, BSCI, or ETI Base Code desirable)

This role is full-time and permanent, with the expectation to be in the office 4 days per week in Surrey, the rest from home, after probation.

This organisation invests in the growth and development of its people and offers genuine progression for ambitious individuals who are committed to making an impact in the sustainability space. What you need to bring is an appetite for growth, a can-do attitude, expertise in sustainability and the food sector, and ambition to deliver change!
