Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer CottonConnect are looking for a marketing/ communications professional with excellent entrepreneurial, commercial and people skills to lead and develop the function, building awareness of CottonConnect’s activities with key stakeholders, from both an internal and external perspective. You will:
- Develop and deliver the Communications and Marketing (MarComs) strategy to drive the profile of CottonConnect across media, the apparel sector and key opinion formers.
- Establish CottonConnect as the leading expert on cotton sustainability by translating data into compelling, clear and meaningful narratives for the wider industry.
- Lead, develop and support the MarComs team, managing agencies across the UK, India and CottonConnect’s countries of presence to ensure aligned messaging and timely delivery.
- Lead marketing initiatives, including online presence, social media and website management.
- Represent CottonConnect at key forums and events, building strong relationships with stakeholders including government bodies, experts and marketing/communications professionals.
- Connect and engage a global team of around 140 people across the UK, India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt and Türkiye, supported by market research to identify trends and gaps.
- As part of the business development team, identify and pursue new business opportunities in the cotton market.
- Cultivate strong relationships with potential clients, brands, retailers, and partners to drive collaboration and business growth.
- Develop tailored proposals and compelling pitches to showcase CottonConnect's unique value proposition to potential clients.
CottonConnect are looking for a marketing and communications professional who has a background in sustainability and is passionate in working for a dynamic social enterprise. The role would suit someone with the following qualities:
- Extensive experience of working in an international environment and driving communications across the US, Europe and Asia (around 10 years’ experience).
- The ability to liaise with thought leaders, thinktanks and local government.
- Knowledge of the wider sustainability landscape, with previous exposure to industry-related events and topics.
- A commercial mindset & creative outlook, with experience of promoting media content and industry insight within a multi-stakeholder business or organisation.
- Excellent people and project organisational skills, understanding the importance of a calm and personable approach to meeting tight deadlines.
- MBA or master’s in marketing / communication from reputed global university.
