Sustainability Manager – 12 Month FTC
Acre is delighted to be partnering with a leading UK property developer in their search to appoint an experienced Sustainability Manager to lead sustainability delivery across a significant development portfolio. The organisation is an FTSE 100 business with a strong balance sheet and a long-term commitment to creating positive outcomes for people, communities, and the environment.
This role will play an important part in delivering the organisation’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy and Net Zero Pathway, with a particular focus on development projects.
Responsibilities
The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for delivering high-quality sustainability performance across a large portfolio of development projects. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams, external consultants, and supply chain partners to ensure sustainability is embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading sustainability delivery across 20+ development projects
- Securing leading sustainability certifications, including BREEAM, WELL, and Home Quality Mark
- Delivering Net Zero and whole life carbon strategies aligned with SBTi, RICS, NABERS, and UKGBC
- Embedding sustainability into design, procurement, and project delivery
- Overseeing ESG reporting and submissions, including GRESB and CDP
- Supporting annual reporting, assurance processes, and verified performance data
- Working with design teams to reduce embodied and operational carbon
- Representing the organisation in industry working groups and policy discussions
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a senior sustainability professional with strong experience in the property, construction, or built environment sector.
Key Requirements Include
- Around 8-10 years’ experience in sustainability within property or construction
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14001
- Practical experience with BREEAM, WELL, and HQM
- Expertise in whole life carbon, embodied carbon, and Net Zero pathways
- Experience contributing to GRESB, CDP, and ESG benchmarks
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to clearly communicate sustainability objectives in commercial terms
