Acre is proudly working with an emerging clean energy technology company focused on advanced hydrogen and power conversion solutions. As part of our European expansion, we are seeking a commercially driven and technically capable Business Development Lead to establish and grow our presence across key markets in Western Europe.
This role is central to building our commercial footprint, developing strategic partnerships, and securing early flagship projects that position the company as a trusted technology provider in the hydrogen ecosystem.
You will work closely with executive leadership and collaborate across marketing and engineering teams to accelerate market entry and pipeline growth.
Role Summary
The Business Development Lead will take ownership of developing and executing a regional go-to-market strategy. The position requires a proactive approach to outbound business development, the ability to manage technically complex sales cycles, and the drive to open new markets within the hydrogen and broader energy transition landscape.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable operating in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Development & Lead Generation
- Drive outbound business development efforts across Western Europe, particularly within established hydrogen and industrial energy hubs.
- Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities through direct outreach, industry engagement, and targeted market initiatives.
- Engage prospective customers in hydrogen production, energy integration, and industrial decarbonization sectors.
- Build and maintain a structured sales pipeline using CRM tools and disciplined opportunity management.
Technical Engagement & Solution Structuring
- Lead early-stage technical discussions, product positioning, and feasibility evaluations.
- Independently manage solution-oriented conversations with technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to shape competitive proposals and customized solutions.
Partnership & Channel Strategy
- Support the development and execution of a scalable regional go-to-market model.
- Identify and activate channel partners, including EPC contractors, project developers, and system integrators.
- Establish relationships with public sector bodies and funding agencies to enable pilot and reference projects.
- Contribute to building a broader ecosystem to support market expansion through indirect channels.
Commercial Operations
- Coordinate tender submissions, qualification documentation, and proposal development.
- Provide structured reporting on pipeline progression, forecasting, and commercial performance.
- Ensure internal alignment between commercial and technical functions.
Market & Strategic Insight
- Monitor regulatory developments, incentive programs, and competitive positioning across Europe.
- Provide regional intelligence to support product positioning and marketing strategy.
- Act as a bridge between technical and commercial teams to ensure cohesive market engagement.
Candidate Profile
- 4-6 years of experience in business development, technical sales, or commercial roles within hydrogen, power electronics, renewable energy, battery systems, or adjacent industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, solution-based sales processes.
- Experience building partnerships and developing new market channels.
- Fluency in English required; German strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline; technical background in energy systems is advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and passionate about the energy transition.
