Confidential Client

Acre has partnered with an early-stage technology agnostic development platform that focuses on deploying complex industrial energy projects through novel financing structures. This is a high-growth startup with strong backing and seasoned founders that is destined to revolutionize the industrial energy landscape.

As the business scales and projects move from development into execution, we're looking to secure an accomplished Project Director to lead the delivery of highly complex industrial energy projects. This individual will serve as the single point of accountability for project execution, managing projects from the Development Agreement through FEED, construction, commissioning, and Commercial Operations Date (COD).

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Execution – you will own the execution of multiple concurrent complex industrial energy infrastructure projects, managing budget, schedule, quality, safety, and stakeholder alignment from development through startup.
  • Engineering & Contractor Management – you'll lead pre-FEED and FEED activities, manage engineering contractors, coordinate OEMs, EPCs, owner's engineers, and ensure projects remain technically and commercially aligned.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management – you will serve as the primary interface with industrial customers, capital providers, OEMs, and contractors, maintaining confidence and driving projects forward through critical milestones.
  • Commercial & Contracting Support – you'll work closely with commercial and finance teams on EPC agreements, equipment supply contracts, performance guarantees, risk allocation, and project finance diligence.
  • Construction, Commissioning & Startup – you will oversee field execution, change management, commissioning, performance testing, and handover to operations.

We're looking for someone who has

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering with 10+ years of experience delivering complex industrial or energy infrastructure projects. A PE license and PMP certification are assets.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects through FEED, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Strong experience managing EPC contractors, OEMs, engineering firms, and customer stakeholders across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Hands-on experience delivering brownfield industrial plant retrofits, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, central utility infrastructure, process plants, steam systems, or other heavy industrial capital projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a working understanding of project finance, contract negotiation, risk management, and project economics.
  • Experience within industrial decarbonization, thermal energy storage, industrial heat pumps, CHP, power generation, cogeneration, biofuels, hydrogen, pulp & paper, specialty chemicals, or similar process industries is an asset.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency with the ability and eagerness to travel to HQ and customer sites across North America whenever is needed (50% travel)
